The 30-bed Creekside Withdrawal Management Centre includes 24 adult and 6 dedicated youth beds. The Centre provides programs in a safe, medically supervised and supportive environment for men, women and youth (14 years and over) wanting to withdraw from the physical and psychological effects of the substances they have been misusing. Admission to the unit is on a voluntary basis for adults and youth who are medically and psychiatrically stable and generally capable of self care. People may request admission directly or may be referred by personnel from Outpatient Clinics, community agencies, Employee Assistance Programs, hospitals, physicians, family and friends. The centre also offers a ”Daytox” program, a medically monitored group-based day program offering withdrawal management for individuals who do not require intensive residential withdrawal management services. For clients assessed as being suitable and who have a supportive home environment, it will provide an alternative treatment and support option to detox or hospitalization.
