Atlantic Centre for Trauma

Atlantic Centre for Trauma is dedicated to providing addiction and trauma recovery to military members and first responders. They understand that these professions place individuals at a unique risk of experiencing trauma and its effects. Atlantic Centre for Trauma’s inpatient facility, located in beautiful Nova Scotia, provides a peaceful and calming setting for recovery. The facility offers alcohol and drug recovery and care for co-occurring conditions with special tracks for family care and trauma-specific programs. Patients are given a secure, comfortable, and warm environment to help them recover. The campus is surrounded by nature and offers a fully equipped gym, lovely hiking routes, and freshly prepared, regionally inspired meals.

Treatment Opportunities

The Atlantic Centre for Trauma provides a range of therapeutic interventions that address various mental health conditions. Some of these interventions include Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and art therapy. These interventions take place in an individual or small-group treatment setting. In addition, the Atlantic Centre for Trauma offers integrated therapies including yoga, meditation, physical exercise, healthy eating, and good sleep habits. The facility also provides specialized treatments such as Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) and Ketamine Therapy.

Trauma-specific & Family Program

Atlantic Centre for Trauma offers specialized services to treat PTSD, mood disorders, sexual trauma, and chronic pain, with or without co-occurring substance use disorders. Patients receive a comprehensive treatment program that includes detox, stabilization, psychoeducation, skill-building, and relapse prevention. The facility also offers family programs that aim to educate family members about the patient’s condition, provide them with tools for coping, and encourage healing together.

Aftercare and Alumni Network

Atlantic Centre for Trauma’s aftercare program is designed to provide ongoing support to patients even after they have completed their treatment program. All qualified patients who finish therapy are given one year of aftercare. Additionally, the facility’s lifetime alumni network, Thrive, is available to provide patients with a supportive community of individuals who have completed the same journey towards recovery.
